Changing Our Minds in the Age of Aquarius

I’ve been enjoying the app “Threads,” for the most part. Yes, I know it’s a Zuck/Meta platform, but as someone who never embraced Twitter and grew tired of Instagram’s polished, curated vibes, Threads has felt like a breath of fresh air. Its soft, breezy tone made it my favorite place to scroll during the election.

Blue dots in red cities became addictive—I’d heart and like as many as I could. Was there really so much hope out there, scattered in places I never expected? Since the election, Threads has been a space to grieve together, hold space for one another, and stay connected with friends and local news. Even most of my global news has come from Threads, though with a healthy dose of fact-checking and discernment, of course.

Speaking of highlights, one of the most fascinating things in 2025 so far has been the podcast “The Telepathy Tapes.” For me, it echoes so much of what Spirit has shown me about our energetic bodies, how we function after death, and even how we might learn to communicate with the “non-verbal” community. I’ve been itching to chat with someone about it, so when a post popped up asking if anyone else was listening, I practically shouted, “YES!”

I replied with enthusiasm: “I’m loving it, and it makes so much sense that this is coming into focus ahead of the 2027 Human Design mutation!”

Three other Threads users jumped in. One tagged a friend. That friend replied with 👀 and tagged another, who dropped this bomb: “HD is a cult.”

A cult? That stopped me in my tracks.

Curious, I engaged: “I’m genuinely curious why you think HD is a cult? I’m not throwing shade—just wondering if I’ve missed something.”

Not long after, she replied: “I’ve just read what other people said, and it’s a cult. People are told what to wear and who to date. Plus, it was created by a cis-white male…”

This led to a back-and-forth where I tried to respond thoughtfully, but things escalated quickly. Before she blocked me, I shared something I want to pass along to you:

“Any system or tool can fall prey to malicious behavior, including Human Design. Crystals, essential oils, and even witches have been branded as cults based on past misuse. I know many BIPOC who are aware of the cis-white male origins of HD and choose to use the system in beautiful ways that align with and support them. Tools are only as good as the people who use them, and we have to be really careful, especially in this political climate, when we accuse others.”

She didn’t take it well. But the experience left me disheartened, not because I was blocked, but because of the larger issue at play: the tendency to throw blanket judgments on things—and on people—without discernment. I too, had somehow missed the

Her comments went beyond Human Design. She had spent her time on Threads railing against almost every spiritual practice, from the Akashic Records to chakras, Reiki, and everything in between, claiming they all had ties to harmful ideologies. It was heartbreaking. Other users gently encouraged her to dive deeper into the ancient texts and histories of these modalities, but she wasn’t open to it.

This interaction got me thinking about how important it is to separate stories from fiction. No spiritual tool or teacher is without flaws—because they’re human creations.

So much of what we’re being called to learn under Pluto in Aquarius is how to change our minds. Aquarius, as a fixed air sign, prides itself on taking the moral high ground. But it can also become unconsciously rooted in outdated patterns and rigid thinking.

This week, I invite you to change your mind about something. For me, I’ve decided to take a closer look at the Human Design accounts I follow. Are they empowering, or do they perpetuate outdated, shaming ideas? I won’t defend Human Design when it’s used harmfully—but I also won’t judge all Hedge Witches based on one encounter. 😉

Pluto in Aquarius is asking us to embrace discernment without cynicism, curiosity without judgment. This isn’t easy work, but it’s how we grow, evolve, and find deeper truths.

So in invite you, what’s one thing you’re ready to see differently this week?
