May 2025: Astrological Field Notes

Welcome back, star-gatherer. Pull up a velvet chair and pour yourself something wonderful to sip. May is overstuffed with talking bulls, multitasking twins, and a surprise minotaur tucked behind Saturn.

Let’s begin with the bull.

Taurus, steadfast keeper of the skies, is slow to gain power early in the month with only the Sun and Uranus here. When Mercury finally joins Taurus by the 11th you’ll be ready for some boundaries. This isn’t your Instagram-aesthetic version of Taurus. This is prehistoric, lunar-horned Taurus. The kind worshiped in Çatalhöyük, where bull heads were mounted on walls to invoke fertility, protection, and divine feminine magic. The horns? Crescent moons. The Earth? A womb. Security wasn’t just aesthetic here. It was deeply sacred and Taurus will remind you of that this month.

On April 30th, just hours before we entered May, Venus barged into Aries like she realizeed she was late for the party. Passions will ignite. Comfort zones will combust. See above for boundary pep-talk… Venus is one excited girl, but that energy will likely vanish almost as fast as it appeared. With the Sun in Taurus you might want to ghost the group chat and curl up with a cup of something vintage, perferibly aged. And you know what, permission granted. We only get Spring once a year and it is a symphony of bird calls, soft greens and delicate blooms, so slow the hell down and enjoy it.

By mid-month, Pluto begins takes his slow tumble backwards through Aquarius. Get ready, it’s going to be an interesting 6 months. The Full Moon in Scorpio is going to burst onto the stage like a spotlight in a dark theater. Things are about to get lit. Secrets will leak. Power dynamics could crack under the pressure. Somewhere, Mercury whispers to you, “Stop oversharing.” and you find your way out the back of the theater.

As Gemini season blows in by the 20th, expect dry air and static electricity. Curiosity rules the sky and with Jupiter amping up the final degrees of Gemini your ideas are outgrowing their pots. What’s worth re-potting and what’s ready to be let go? By the 27th, the Sun, Mercury, and New Moon all hold court in Gemini, the sign of sacred mischief. You’re invited to juggle joy, speak clearly, and for the love of Saturn, edit later.

And speaking of Saturn...

On May 24, Saturn enters Aries for the first time since 1998. Think launch of Google and the economic downturn in Russia. Yes vintage but not antique. This is going to feel like stepping into your own personal labyrinth—only the path is unmarked, the stakes are high, and the version of yourself in the middle is surprising. Hello Minotaur moment.

Saturn in Aries isn’t a sprint, it’s marathon. The pressure to go faster, without a firm hold on which way to go could leave you burnt out and exhausted. You’re going to need strategy, stamina, and a steady hand on the wheel of your own impatience.

This is a trial by fire and time. To master this energy you’re going to have to find out if you can hold a long-term vision in a short-attention-span world. You don’t get extra credit for finishing early. The real magic is when you show up daily with a little more clarity and a little less ego.

Take heart, beloved star-gazer! May won’t trap you, but it will teach you where your true north lives. The answer could surprise you.
