Wood Snake Altar Cloth

$111.00

For the person who was transformed by 2025.

Product Story

When I found this vintage linen tablecloth in a quiet corner of a local antique shop, her embroidered sunflowers were the first thing to call out to me. Sunflowers are symbols of steadfastness, devotion, and finding your way back to the light, even after long seasons in the dark. When I picked up this cloth, I could tell she had been loved once. The sunflowers created with tiny french knots and the lattice lovingly stitched in a repeating pattern around the center. It had been loved, then tucked away when “simple florals” fell out of fashion.

As always, I asked the cloth if it was willing to become something new.
It said yes before I finished the question.

When I brought it home, it immediately was washed and hung to dry and then… nothing. Sometimes these textiles can sit for months, and this was one of those. I thought for sure it would spring to life in the fall, but September, October and most of November faded. As Scorpio season started to peak, I began to see the image of a snake at the center. I’m not a fan of snakes, most of the time, but oh how they have haunted me these last few weeks!

So a snake, blue like the original latticework, but textured like wood grain. A quiet homage to the Wood Snake year of 2025: the year so many of us shed skins we’d been carrying far too long. The year of stepping into the unknown… even when the ground felt unfamiliar. This snake would be moving, eyes open, body stretching toward the edge of the inner square as if it had simply outgrown the space it once called home.

To honor the cloth’s desire to become a renewed statement piece, I hand-painted modern sunflowers in each corner. This feels like a collaboration across decades, and I am so happy with the finished product.

Created under the Scorpio New Moon of 2025, with Mercury, Venus, and the Sun all still in Scorpio, the sky infused this piece with transformation, reclamation, and soft-but-stubborn rebirth.

This is a piece for the person who knows they are different than they were a year ago.
Someone who has crossed a threshold, let something old fall away, or stepped into a life bigger than the one they had before.
Someone ready to mark the moment they finally said, I’m ready for more.
